DAWN C. NELMS was born in Glendale, Arizona, but grew up in Spokane, Washington. She attended Eastern Washington University receiving a B.A. in Political Science in 1999. During her college years, Dawn was a member of Pi Sigma Alpha (National Political Honor Society) and was a moot court competitor. She thereafter attended Gonzaga University School of Law, receiving her law degree in 2002. During law school, Dawn received the CALI award for Legal Writing & Research IV. She was admitted to the California State Bar in December 2002.

During her spare time, Dawn can be found hiking the cliffs of Torrey Pines and spending time with family.
