T. KELLY COX was born in Corpus Christie, Texas.  Growing up in a military family, Kelly moved around frequently, but spent the majority of his youth in Mission Viejo, California. In 1978, he moved to San Diego, California, where he attended San Diego State University, earning his BA in English Literature in 1980. Kelly then went on to attend Western State University, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1995. During his law school days, Kelly was a member of Law Review and clerked for the Honorable J. Richard Haden (Ret.) of the San Diego Superior Court.  Kelly was admitted to the California State Bar in December 1995. 

When he is not working hard defending his clients, Kelly enjoys surfing, running and cooking.
